Paving wrapped up at the end of July between the Walloper Lake and Inks Lake area on Highway 5, on the Coquihalla between Kamloops and Merritt.

The work covered lanes-only paving from the Walloper Underpass to the Ajax Overpass northbound, and through the Walloper area southbound, totalling 27.7 lane kilometres.

The section is part of an 81.7 lane kilometre asphalt resurfacing contract with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, which also includes a full-width paving segment further north between CN Junction Road and Devick Road South access.

During the final stretch of paving, Bianca Martin and Olivia Eccleston from Dawson Group’s HR team visited the site to see the work firsthand and capture photos of the crew in action.

The next phase of the project moves to the CN Junction to Rayleigh stretch, with paving scheduled to begin in September.
